More than a century has passed since the small beginning of Palmer and Company. Family-owned and operated for five generations, Palmer's tradition of quality has remained constant throughout the years. Palmer Candy began in 1878 when the adventurous E.C. Palmer decided to settle in the fast-growing frontier town of Sioux City, Iowa. Edward went into business as a wholesale grocer. His small company soon needed to diversify so he bought a candy shop and moved it into the fruit house. The passing years brought change and improvements to the regional operation. In addition to a successful line of candy bars being created, the full general line of chocolates is continually reviewed. Palmer's current line of bulk chocolates represents all the quality and craftsmanship of over 100 years experience in satisfying customer expectations and desires. The annual production of millions of pounds of fabulous chocolate specialties is now shipped all over the nation. Strong local demand led Palmer Candy to develop a complete bag line program for its regional wholesale distribution system unlike anything else in the country. The Palmer Candy bag line is now sold nationally and includes hundreds of delectable confections. Even though it had its roots in the horse drawn delivery wagon era, this efficient system now uses state-of-the-art technology to insure the best customer service and satisfaction.
