Siouxland
Medical Education Foundation
The Siouxland Medical Education Foundation was established in 1975 as a result
of the cooperative efforts of the Sioux City hospitals and physicians. The
newly constructed Siouxland Medical Education Foundation is known to many area
residents as the Family Practice Center and is located at 2501 Pierce Street,
Sioux City, Iowa.
The Foundation sponsors a three-year family practice residency
program and a one-year pharmacy residency program, both
of which are affiliated with the University of Iowa College
of Medicine. These are the only two residency programs in
northwest Iowa. Over one hundred thirty seven residents
have graduated from the program since 1975. Of these family
practice graduates, over half are practicing within 100
miles of Sioux City. In addition to its resident physicians,
the Foundation provides training to about 40 medical students,
physician extenders and pharmacy students each academic
year.
