You can take a break from your busy day sitting in a comfortable chair reading a newspaper, periodical or book. You can do research for work, school, your business or your curiosity. Browse the computer catalog or the internet. Attend an informational gathering, a special educational activity or take your children to enjoy story time. The Sioux City Public Library has 47,172 active cardholders, indicating that 55% of Sioux City's population have used their Library card in the last three years to check something out. The Library houses 206,000 books and recordings in three locations: The Wilbur Aalfs (Main) Library, the Morningside Branch Library, and the Perry Creek Branch Library. During the last fiscal year library patrons check out 583,326 books, magazines, and recordings. In addition, patrons clicked into the Library's home page and online catalog 305,300 times from remote locations.Sioux City Public Library

South Sioux City Public Library
This fall South Sioux City opened the doors to its brand new public library. Now located at Dakota Avenue, the library has a large inviting children's area, more than 25 computers, plenty of reading and study spaces, individual and group study room, a fireplace, aviary, and coffee shop are some of the amenities of the new facility. The library contains more than 35,000 items and has an average circulation of 60,000. The collections include books, magazines, videos, CD Roms, audio tapes, and large print materials. Access to the Internet and software programs is available on public access computers equipped with Spanish keyboards. The library provides preschool story hour, Spanish story hour, Lewis and Clark for Kids study group, book club for adults, and the summer reading program. It also takes part in the area Lewis and Clark group for adults. The library's outreach volunteers deliver materials to the elderly and disabled throughout the community.
