Interbake Foods has been a part of Siouxland since the early 1900s; originally known as Johnson Biscuit Company. In 1969 Johnson Biscuit Company merged with other regional bakers to form Interbake Foods Inc. of Richmond VA. Since that time the company has evolved from a manufacturer and marketer of cookie products under its own label - FFV - to a contract bakery that produces for national marketers and private label businesses. A new $4.3 million dollar plant with 111,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse and office space was constructed in the North Sioux City Industrial Park in 1974. After an expansion in 1994, the facility now has approximately 260,000 square feet and utilizes the latest technology in manufacturing equipment and processes. The facility was recognized for its use of quality management systems in 1993 by being designated a Class A-MRPII manufacturer, and was registered as an ISO 9001 manufacturer in 1998. Approximately 525 people are employed at the facility, working three shifts to manufacture quality, best-cost fresh cookies for the marketplace.
