Hunting & Fishing
Hunters and the game they hunt are plentiful in Siouxland. The Siouxland area provides excellent ring-necked pheasant hunting, as well as wild turkey, white-tailed deer, fox squirrel, and bobwhite quail. Duck and geese hunters take to area lakes and Missouri River to hunt their game. Game is abundant on both private and public property. Keep in mind the law requires you to get permission before crossing onto private property. For lists of public hunting areas or to apply for a hunting license, contact the following:

Fishing is also a popular pastime in Siouxland. These major rivers in the Siouxland area offer good fishing:
Missouri River: Although it has been channelized from Ponca, Nebraska, good downstream fishing can still be had for channel catfish, fathead catfish, drum, sauger and walleye.
Big Sioux River: An excellent channel catfish stream, the Big Sioux also provides flathead catfish and numerous "rough" fish such as carp and buffalo. Limited numbers of walleye and sauger are also found here.
Little Sioux River: Another good channel catfish and flathead catfish stream. Walleye fishing can be excellent below the lowhead dams.
Missouri River Oxbow Lakes are an important recreational resource for Siouxlanders. These old channels, long ago cut off from the river, are stocked with a variety of fish and offer excellent angling.
Brown's Lake: Largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, northern pike, channel catfish, bullheads
Blue Lake: Largemouth bass, bluegill
Snyders Bend Lake: Channel catfish, bass, bluegill, crappie, northern pike, bullheads
