Grandview Park

Home of Sioux City's only official garden and one of the community's oldest public attractions, Grandview Park plays host to many of Siouxland's outdoor concert events, weddings and relaxing visits.

The park has a natural amphitheater with a unique Band Shell that sets the stage for major music festivals, Sunday band concerts and special events. Built by relief workers during the depression, construction of the Band Shell provided 51,391 hours of employment for the unemployed and was officially dedicated on May 26th 1935. Tote along a blanket and sit picnic style on the grass hills or relax on the benches to listen to the sounds of the music and the night.

Established in 1937 and situated just behind the Band Shell lies the Grandview Park Rose Garden. Originally, this garden was used to test different varieties of rose bushes for a national rose company and today features 3,500 plants and 300 varieties of roses. In 2001 a newly developed task force of local citizens created a long-range vision for the Rose Garden. The plan has been set in motion to further enhance the appearance and use of the Rose Garden with walking paths, seating, lighting, and a fountain. Improvements are scheduled to begin in 2002.

Grandview Park is located on the north side of Sioux City at 24th Street and Grandview Boulevard.
