Now located in its permanent home atop the bluffs overlooking Sioux City, the
Chief War Eagle Monument is a tribute to a respected leader who was a friend
to the white man and firmly loyal to America. War Eagle died in the fall of
1851 after many years of leadership with the first white settlers.
The monument overlooks the tri-state area of Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota
and offers a picturesque view of the Sioux and Missouri rivers. Picnic sites, hiking areas, and rest rooms are available.
Located at Grove Street and War Eagle Drive.
